Feds: SA Man Smuggled Guns to Cartels

A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for shipping assault style rifles to the Mexican drug cartels, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Eloy Garza was arrested with 220 weapons that the feds say he was attempted to smuggle to Mexico.

Garza purchased the firearms himself, and illegally conspired with others to purchase the guns from licensed dealers in San Antonio and Austin and then attempted to get them to Mexico.

He also pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, following a conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver marijuana back in 1990.
