Six Flags Fiesta Texas today closed the Iron Rattler roller coaster, which is a hybrid coaster similar to the one at Six Flags in Arlington where a woman was killed Friday night, 1200 WOAI news reports.
Fiesta Texas spokeswoman Sydne Purvis says the closing of the Iron Rattler is a 'precaution.' She says there have been no problems with the local coaster, which opened to much fanfare earlier this year.
A 51 year old woman was killed on the Texas Giant coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. The cause of that incident is under investigation by Six Flags personnel.
Police are not participating in the investigation into the Arlington incident because it has been determined to have been an accident.
Purvis says it is not known how long the Iron Rattler will remain closed. She says several of the contractors who built the Iron Rattler also worked on the Texas Giant.
She says there are six other roller coasters in operation at Six Flags Fiesta Texas to keep the crowds happy.
